If you’ve ever liked or saved a YouTube video to watch later, you may have trouble finding where those saved videos are stored. YouTube lets you save videos in a few different ways, so your saved videos could be in different places depending on how you originally saved them.
Finding Liked Videos
One of the easiest ways to save a YouTube video is by liking it. When you click the thumbs-up icon below a video, it gets added to your Liked Videos playlist. Here’s how to find that playlist:
- Go to YouTube and make sure you’re logged into your account.
- Click on your profile picture in the top right corner.
- In the drop-down menu, select “Liked videos.”
This will take you to a playlist of all the videos you’ve previously liked on YouTube. You can scroll through and find videos you want to watch again.
Finding Saved Playlists
In addition to liking videos, you can also save videos to custom playlists you create. Here’s how to find those:
- Go to your YouTube homepage while logged in.
- In the left sidebar, click “Playlists.”
- This will show you a list of all the playlists you’ve created.
- Click on any playlist name to open it and see the saved videos inside.
Creating playlists is a great way to organize and save videos on topics that interest you. You can create as many playlists as you want to keep things neatly categorized.
Finding Saved Videos with Your Account
There’s one more place you may find saved videos associated with your YouTube account. Here’s how to get there:
- Go to YouTube.com while logged into your account.
- Click on your profile picture and select “Your data in YouTube.”
- On this page, click on “Videos you’ve liked” or “Playlists you’ve created.”
This is where all the videos you’ve liked and playlists you’ve created are stored within your YouTube account data. It’s another easy way to access your saved content.
Finding Purchased or Rented Videos
If you’ve ever purchased or rented videos on YouTube, they can also be accessed again through your account library:
- Go to YouTube and click on your profile picture.
- Select “Purchases and memberships.”
- Any purchased or rented videos will be listed here for you to watch.
Purchased videos will be available to watch anytime. Rented videos will only be accessible during your rental period before expiring.
Finding Saved Videos on Mobile Devices
The YouTube mobile app makes it easy to find your saved videos too. Just follow these steps:
- Open the YouTube app on your iPhone, Android, or tablet.
- Tap on your account profile picture in the top right.
- Tap “Library” to see all your liked videos, playlists, and purchases.
You can also tap the “Liked” section directly from the bottom bar in the mobile app to quickly access liked videos.
Finding Videos Saved in Your Browser
If you use the YouTube website in your internet browser, you may also have videos saved directly in your browser’s history or bookmarks:
- History – Videos you’ve recently watched may be saved in your browser history. You can often access this by clicking the history or clock icon.
- Bookmarks – You can bookmark videos to save them. Look for a bookmarks or star icon in your browser.
Refer to your specific browser’s help documentation to learn how to access its history and bookmarks.
Finding Videos Downloaded to Your Computer
YouTube also allows you to download videos to keep on your computer using services like YouTube Premium. Here’s where to find downloaded YouTube videos:
- Open the YouTube app or website where you downloaded the videos.
- There will typically be a section called “Downloads” or “Offline.”
- You can also find the files themselves saved on your computer storage.
Downloaded YouTube videos are great for watching without an internet connection. Just remember where you save them!
Recovering Deleted Saved Videos
If you accidentally delete a saved video from YouTube, it may still be recoverable:
- Deleted liked videos sometimes reappear if you dislike and re-like them.
- Deleted playlists can be restored if you haven’t emptied your YouTube trash.
- Purchased videos can be downloaded again from your purchase history.
So don’t panic if you lose a saved video – you may still be able to get it back. Just act quickly before that content is potentially gone for good.
Other YouTube Video Finding Tips
Here are some additional tips for tracking down YouTube videos you’ve previously watched and saved:
- Use YouTube’s search bar to search for specific videos you’ve saved by title or channel name.
- Check the video viewing history on your YouTube account for recently watched videos.
- You may find saved videos in your Google account if you’re logged in there too.
- See if any friends or social media connections shared videos you saved but can’t find.
With so many ways to save YouTube content, it can sometimes get lost. But in most cases you can recover and find the videos you want to see again by exploring your account and history tools.
